LaserGas II MP Analyzer

LaserGas II MP Analyzer, The LaserGas II Multipass monitor is a high performance gas monitor specially designed for measuring very low gas concentrations. Based on the proven Tunable Diode Laser (TDLAS) technology, the instrument has a number of unique features.

  • Short response time (usually 5-10 sec)
  • No cross-sensitivity to other gases
  • Very low detection limits (ppb for most gases)
  • Offline gas analysis in a controlled environment
  • Turn-key instrument
  • Low cost of ownership
  • Ethernet connection

The whole is mounted on a panel. The standard Multipass cell is made of stainless steel. Special (eg heatable) versions of these cells are available on request. Measured values are provided via standard 4-20 mA, a fiber optic output or the optional Ethernet interface.

Measuring principle

Unlike conventional UV or IR spectrographic instruments , LaserGas monitors use the measurement principle known as ‘ single line spectroscopy ‘ , which does not eliminate mutual interference from other gases . A gas absorption line is chosen at the best wavelength where there is the least cross-sensitivity. The laser beam is coupled in the measuring cell, a so-called Herriot cell, where it is reflected several times between two spherical mirrors. Then, transmitted light is collected by a detector for further analysis and calculation of the gas concentration. With the Multipass concept, long optical path length (low detection limit) can be achieved with a very compact instrument.

Installation and operation

The LaserGas II MP Monitor is a turnkey instrument supplied and factory calibrated to suit the specific application. No

activity other than connecting sample gas pipes and optional purges is required during installation. To prevent contamination of the optical components in the Multipass cell, the clarity of the gas sample must be ensured.

Filtering the sample from the gas in an appropriate extractive system may be necessary for some applications. The instrument contains no moving parts, minimizing preventive maintenance and visual inspection. Calibration checks are recommended every 6-12 months.

Important Applications

The LaserGas II MP is designed to detect very low concentrations of gases (down to ppb level).

(The following are some of the typical uses 🙂

Below are some of the associated applications:

  • Measurements of trace contamination (e.g. O2, H2O) in pure gases
  • Measurements of trace impurities in reactive gases used in the semiconductor industry
  • Measurement of contaminants in natural gas
  •  Low ppm H2S measurement in process gases
  •  ppm NO measurement for emission control

Note: Detection limits for gas temperature / pressure = 25 ° C / 1 bar abs. ( * Lowest detection limit for H2O can only be achieved with special cell sealing ). Other gases and ultra-low CO and CO2 (range 0-3 mg/m3) are available on request.
